MGM, Marriott Converting Dated LV Hotel to W Hotel Brand
MGM Resorts International and Marriott International plan to convert an iconic property on the Las Vegas Strip to the W Hotels brand within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. The two companies plan to convert the non-gaming property currently known as The Delano Hotel to W Las Vegas. Located on the Mandalay Bay casino-hotel campus. The project is supposed to start taking shape later this year.
The property opened in 2003 as the THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. The 41-story tower includes 1,117 rooms, all of which are considered suites. The property also has two restaurants, a spa, a beach club, and the top-floor Skyfall lounge.
Earlier this year, the companies introduced the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, allowing rewards members of both brands to benefit from the other’s incentives and perks.
The MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy previously included 11 Las Vegas hotels, of which The Delano was not one. The W Las Vegas will be part of the program.
