Meyers Group Finalizes Camino Real Buy

The Meyers Group of Miami, FL has completed its purchase of the 104-year-old Camino Real Hotel in downtown El Paso from Grupo Empresarial Angeles of Mexico City. The new owner plans a $70 million renovation of the 356-room property at 101 S. El Paso St. The sales price was undisclosed, with the El Paso Central Appraisal District assessing the property at $7.1 million.

Meyers Group plans to launch renovations on the property in February, and anticipates an 18-month construction timeline. Plans call for renovating all guest rooms, the second-floor ballroom and meeting rooms, as well as the ground-floor lobby, restaurants, and the Dome Bar. The 10th-floor ballroom and terrace will be restored, and converted into a full-service spa, gym and swimming pool.
