Metroplex Vision for High-Speed Rail on Track

A high-speed rail line spanning 30 to 40 miles between Dallas and Fort Worth is garnering early support from several area officials.

The creation of a local government corporation that would own and manage the DFW Core Express has already been considered by Fort Worth. It is expected to receive Dallas approval by late May. The corporation might also include Arlington.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments is coordinating the project, which could route along I-30 or the Trinity Railway Express corridor. An environmental impact study is set to be completed in 2018, with train functionality possible by 2023.
