MetLife Selects JLL for ATL Development Assignment
MetLife is moving forward on the redevelopment of a gateway site to Midtown Atlanta, and has engaged Chicago-based JLL to manage the development process. MetLife and JLL initiated conceptual design work and planning, though they say to expect the development cycle to encompass more than 10 years.
The 8.5-acre Midtown Heights parcel, once slated for Metropolitan Center, a high-rise, mixed-use development, is located at 17th and Spring St.’s where a 1960s-era office building currently sits.
The insurer started assembling land at the site in 2006, and since then, Midtown has attracted top technology companies and a younger workforce population, which has driven residential development and caused the office market to tighten, especially for Class A assets.
