Methodist Stone Oak hospital looking at $25M expansion

Methodist Healthcare Expanding San Antonio Hospital

Methodist Healthcare is embarking on another significant hospital expansion in a race to keep pace with the region’s explosive growth of the region. The Stone Oak area on San Antonio’s Far North Side and its healthcare needs are growing.

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak is looking at a $23 million expansion. It will house new procedural spaces, operating rooms and cardiac catheterization labs. The project, expected to be completed by early 2024, will allow Methodist to expand capacity for more complex cardiac cases.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports Methodist is advancing plans for a more extensive Stone Oak expansion that could include the construction of two new floors atop its existing five-story tower. The price tag for that project will likely be closer to $80 million to $100 million.

Currently, the Stone Oak campus has approximately 280 patient beds. The two-story addition would raise the bed count to about 350.
