Mesa Rim Planning State’s Largest Indoor Climbing Facility
Mesa Rim Climbing Centers announced it would develop the state of Texas’ largest indoor climbing, yoga and fitness facility. The 50,000-square-foot, purpose-built gym space will be at 1230 Sheldon Cove in northeast Austin.
The California-based Mesa Rim is partnering with Metis Capital of Austin on the project, which is expected to break ground in Q3 2020, and open in mid-2021. The space will offer rope-climbing and bouldering terrain, 55-foot climbing walls, a yoga studio, cardio and weight training, sauna, locker rooms and community space.
In addition to the climbing gym, Metis Capital will also start construction on another 32,000-square-foot flex building at the same time, on a speculative basis. The project team assembled for the two buildings include DKC Construction Group as the general contractor and Tenet Design Partners as the architect. An engineering firm has yet to be determined.
