Mentorship Matters as Women Grow Careers in Real Estate
To help women grow their careers in the real estate industry, Joanne Podell believes in mentorship.
“I’m not shy about confronting the obstacles stacked against women in this industry,” said Podell, executive vice chairman for Cushman & Wakefield. “To prove myself, I needed to work twice as hard as my male colleagues… They had the shared social experiences… I wasn’t going to the bar with them, wasn’t attending sports events.”
Mentorship can make a real positive difference. “I’m committed to serving as a mentor not only to the women on my team, but throughout our firm and across our service lines,” said Podell. “I’m also incredibly proud of the work Cushman & Wakefield’s Women’s Integrated Network (WIN) is doing to empower, support, train, and retain talented women within our organization.”
