Membership Coworking Could Come to Historic Motor Row

Two former Chicago Bears defensive ends want to bring a mixed-use complex centered around coworking space to historic Motor Row. A venture led by Israel Idonije and Julius Peppers filed an application with the city this week to redevelop the 92-year-old Hudson Motor Building into FBRK, which would feature 40,000 square feet of coworking space through a membership model, and about 100,000 square feet of amenities, including the addition of a partial fifth story.

According to the zoning application filed by Idonije and Peppers, the project would be the first major exterior and interior redevelopment of a building in the Motor Row District since it was established as a landmark district in 2000. The pair bought the property last January for $10 million.

Assuming the application is approved, work on the redevelopment could begin in September, and the facility could open to members in late 2019.
