Medical office constructions reaches 10-year high in Houston

Houston Medical Office Construction Reaches 10-Year High

Houston currently has 18 medical offices under construction containing 1.6 million square feet of off and on-campus facilities. A Transwestern survey reported that the new properties (non-hospitals) will deliver more than 400,000 square feet by the end of the year and are currently more than 40% pre-leased, the most activity in ten years.

The report speculated that the historically high volume of construction is due to the rapid population across the region and that it’s home to the Texas Medical Campus (TMC), the worlds largest medical complex. “The newly completed buildings are strategically located throughout Houston’s most rapidly expanding suburban residential communities where homebuilding and multifamily construction are also experiencing historic highs,” said Transwestern’s Robert Kramp.

As expected, the largest concentration of growth is occurring in the TMC with 560,000 square feet underway.
