McKinney to Get $17 Million Hospital Expansion

Construction will begin in January of next year on a new patient tower at the Medical City McKinney. The project is designed to expand care for mothers and newborns.

Medical City was the site of over 2,000 baby deliveries in 2021. The planned expansion for women’s services is part of a major capital investment initiative of more than $1.4 billion to be spent over five years.

In December, Medical City McKinney opened a three story patient tower. The third floor of the patient tower is set aside for orthopedics, surgery and trauma patients.

Construction will be done for the new women’s unit in phases. The first will be building out an additional 24,000 square feet for a 21-bed neonatal intensive care unit, 12 postpartum suites and a separate womens services entrance for patients and visitors.

Construction is expected to be complete by 2023.
