McKinney Reviewing Marriott-Branded Hotel Request
The City of McKinney is considering offering incentives to a developer of a full-service hotel. Community Impact reports that the agreement, if approved, would provide economic incentives for the development of a 290-room JW Marriott hotel with over 50,000 square feet of conference space. The developer plans to develop the JW Marriott Resort McKinney Craig Ranch hotel on an 8-acre parcel at the northeast corner of Collin McKinney Parkway and Van Tuyl Parkway.
The application also mentions a resort-style pool with “lazy river”, a fitness center, a three-meal restaurant and specialty restaurant, a lounge with terrace/pool seating and food/beverage service, pickleball courts, structured parking, valet and self-parking, a gift/sundries shop, and at least forty-five (45) for-sale condominiums served by a separate amenity deck.
Economic development incentives being offered include reimbursements of sales taxes, property taxes and hotel occupancy taxes, totaling between $13 million and $18 million.
The proposed agreement would require construction on the development to begin by Dec. 31, 2026, and be completed by April 30, 2029.
