Venu buys land for McKinney Amphitheater

McKinney Amphitheatre Promoters Close on Venue Land

The developer of a proposed entertainment venue in McKinney has bought the land for what will be the Sunset Amphitheater. Up until now, the lead developer Venu, had an option on the land until it received a green light from the town. The town provided $50 million in incentives. The project is expected to cost over $220 million.

The 20,000-seat entertainment venue will be located on a 46-acre tract of land at the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121, near the Sheraton McKinney.

The venue will feature 295 firepit suites for purchase as well as a private membership-based club. The venue will also include fully covered seating areas, a landscaped grass berm and 5,100 parking spaces. The new entertainment venue is estimated to host between 50-65 shows each year.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the amphitheater is expected to be held this spring. The venue is expected to be open in June 2026.
