McDonald’s Relocates HQ to West Loop
McDonald’s Corp. is relocating its corporate HQ from Oak Brook, IL to downtown Chicago’s 1045 W. Randolph St. The company plans to transform the former home of Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, owned by Chicago developer Sterling Bay, and move into roughly 300,000 square feet by spring of 2018.
McDonald’s Steve Easterbrook says it is a “significant step” toward building a better company, as it seeks to drive momentum by getting closer to customers, encouraging innovation and attracting the best talent.
The new build-to-suit, which will house its global corporate and U.S. HQ, along with its international training center, Hamburger University, will be transformed into a modern workplace that “fosters collaboration and connectivity.”
CBRE’s Todd Lippman represented McDonald’s in its return to Chicago, where it was based until 1971.
