McCombs Enterprises Lays Out Plans for Pearl-Area Project
The vision McCombs Enterprises has as part of its Pearl-area mixed-use project is starting to take shape. McCombs Enterprises bought a large swath of CPS Energy property earlier in the year and plans to develop apartment, office and hotel space fronting the River Walk. The San Antonio Business Journal reports McCombs is partnering with Denver-based McWhinney on the project named, “Jones Avenue at Museum Reach”. The duo expects the project to cost $300 million.
The joint venture will try to convince local and state policymakers that they will need $35 million in public funds to make the project work.
Renderings indicate a plan for 325 apartment units between a 13-story building and a six-story building, 70,000 square feet of office space in a four-story building, 146 hotel rooms and 904 parking spaces between two garages. McCombs Enterprises is named after Red McCombs, a longtime pro sports owner, media executive and car dealership owner.
