Governor Appoints McCauley Commissioner of California DRE
The California Department of Real Estate reports Doug McCauley has been appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom as Commissioner of the department. This position requires Senate confirmation. This transition is expected to occur in early May.
Lourdes M. Castro Ramírez, Secretary of California’s Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) says, “Doug is coming from the Department of Housing and Community Development, where he has been for more than two years leading and managing its tremendous growth. For the last several months, he has been Acting Director of the department, where he has shown great leadership. I am very happy that he is staying in the BCSH family, and know he will make an outstanding Commissioner.”
McCauley has served as chief deputy director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development since 2018, and as acting director of the Department since 2019. He was executive officer at the California Architects Board from 2001 to 2018.
