McCarthy Taking on CHRISTUS Expansion

McCarthy Building Companies Inc. was awarded the expansion and upgrade job for CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler in Tyler, TX. The health care center, at 800 E. Dawson St. near downtown Tyler, is adding a new, 200,000-square-foot bed tower and parking garage.

The new, glass-masonry façade bed tower will add two trauma rooms, 48 ICU beds, an emergency room with 54 treatment beds, and two helipads. Meanwhile, the existing garage will be replaced with a 297,000-square-foot garage, on which construction began in early 2017.

In the project’s final phase, McCarthy will finish out a 23,000-square-foot shell floor for the existing CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital – Tyler, the first heart hospital in East Texas.
