Maybelline HQ Turned Apartments Trades in Edgewater

Essex Realty Group brokered the sale of the old Maybelline headquarters at 5935 N. Clark St. in in the North Side’s Edgewater neighborhood. Now reconfigured as a mixed-use apartment building, the historic property changed hands for approximately $6,025,000.

Connect Media reported in October 2018 that the Essex Realty team of Doug Imber, Kate Varde and Clay Maxfield brought the property to market. Imber, Varde and Maxfield, along with colleague Brian Karmowski, arranged the recent sale to an undisclosed buyer.

Along with a mix of studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments totaling 52 units, the property features 18,930 square feet of commercial space and a 24-car underground garage. The new owner plans to revitalize 9,700 square feet of long-vacant commercial space, in addition to rebranding the building, making interior improvements to the apartments and common areas, and adding a rooftop amenity space.
