Master Builder John Tishman Dies at 90

John L. Tishman, who is known for building the John Hancock Center in Chicago and the World Trade Center Towers in Manhattan, has passed away at age 90. The cause of death was respiratory failure, according to multiple reports.

Tishman was head of Tishman Realty and Construction Co., an entity founded by his grandfather Julius in 1898. Tishman Construction has built and renovated more than 500 million square feet of space, including the Javits Convention Center in New York and the headquarters for the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, DC.

Tishman is survived by his two children, Daniel Tishman and Katherine Blacklock, and three grandsons.
