Massport to Hire Current NYC Transit Chief Richard Davey
The Massachusetts Port Authority board has selected Richard Davey as its new CEO, pending his acceptance of the role. He will replace Lisa Wieland, the former Massport CEO.
Davey, currently the president of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City, began his career nearly two decades ago, having served as general manager of the MBTA in 2010. He has dealt with challenges such as overseeing the controversial congestion-pricing plan and addressing rising subway crime during his NYC role. Before joining NYC Transit, Davey was managing director at Boston Consulting Group and CEO of Boston 2024. He took over NYC Transit in May 2022, following Andy Byford’s departure, and aimed to stay at least two years.
Massport has been active in public-private partnerships, including its involvement in the first affordable housing project in the Seaport. The authority has also focused on promoting diversity in the sector through its Massport Model.
