Massport Selects Omni for $550M, 1,000-Room Hotel
A partnership between Texas-based Omni Resorts and Hotels and New Boston Hospitality LLC was selected by the Massachusetts Port Authority to develop a $550-million, 1,054-room hotel in Boston’s Seaport District. Located on a 2.1-acre parcel on Summer Street, adjacent to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the property will rank as the fourth largest in the state.
The two 21-story hotel towers will total 800,000 square feet, and offer two different room sizes, standard and “innovation” rooms, which are smaller and cost less. Also planned is 120,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including three ballrooms, as well as 40,000 square feet of retail space and an 8,500-square-foot spa.
The developers negotiated a 90-year ground lease with Massport, and are targeting a ground breaking next summer. Delivery is expected in 2021.
