Massachusetts Tops USGBC’s Top 10 LEED List
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) released its Top 10 State list for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Massachusetts topped the list, jumping from third to first place, with a total of 136 LEED-certified projects, representing 3.73 square feet of certified space per resident.
The USGBC annual ranking highlights states throughout the U.S. that make significant strides in sustainable building design, construction and transformation during the previous year. The ranking assesses the total square feet of LEED-certified space per resident, based on U.S. Census data. The data includes commercial and institutional green building projects certified in 2016.
Other northeast states making the top-10 list include New York and Maryland.
