Massachusetts Mall Set for Auction
The Hampshire Mall in Hadley, Massachusetts, is set for auction on June 20 amid financial difficulties, Boston Business Journal reported. The 470,000-square-foot mall, owned by Pyramid Management Group, hosts tenants like JCPenney, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Cinemark Theaters, and Planet Fitness.
The mortgage holders initiated foreclosure proceedings, reflecting the mall’s declining value, now assessed at $19.2 million—half of its 2009 value. The property spans 46 acres with 342,600 square feet of leasable space. This follows a trend where older malls face financial challenges, with the Dartmouth Mall defaulting on a loan and Pyramid selling the Kingston Collection for $9 million, far below its 2006 value of $181 million.
