MaryAnne Gilmartin Launches New Development Firm with L&L

MaryAnne Gilmartin is leaving Forest City to found L&L MAG, a new development firm she’s launching with David Levinson and Robert Lapidus, the partners behind leading development firm L&L Holding.

“I’ve had a great run, but it’s time,” she said during an interview Sunday with the Real Deal. “I consider it to be my moment, and in some ways I feel like my finest work is yet to come.”

In a way, you couldn’t call it unexpected. Gilmartin rose to become President and CEO of Forest City New York. However, Forest City New York’s parent company is currently engaged in selling off its portfolio in New York City. Her new firm has a service agreement with Forest City to consult on the Pacific Park megaproject in Brooklyn, which Gilmartin spent much of the last decade working on, and which Forest City has now largely sold to its partner Greenland USA.
