Martin Selig Commemorates Construction Restart on 400 Westlake

Martin Selig Real Estate (MSRE), in partnership with Perkins and Will and Lease Crutcher Lewis, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony this week to mark the restart of construction on 400 Westlake in Seattle. Landmarked as the Firestone Tire Building, the 230,000-square-foot office project is Martin Selig Real Estate’s first property in South Lake Union.

The developer initially broke ground on the project earlier this spring, just as the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Seattle. It had been on a construction hiatus since June, largely due to government-ordered lockdowns and uncertainty over the future impact of COVID-19 on Seattle’s economy.

The 15-story building is anticipated for completion in Spring 2022 and the developer touts it as the largest green building of its size in the world. The project includes 9,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, as well as a 3,500-square-foot landscaped roof.
