Mars Wrigley Confectionery Plans $30M Waco Expansion

Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S. announced plans to expand its Mars Chocolate North America production plant in Waco, TX by 65,000 square feet. The $30-million expansion will help boost production of Snickers, Skittles and Starburst candies, expanding the existing factory to almost 750,000 square feet. The plant’s expansion is geared toward serving the company’s distribution needs, and will create at least 10 new jobs.

Mars has operated in Waco since 1976, and the plant continues to produce more Snickers products for U.S. sale than any other Mars facility. The plant, at 1001 Texas Central Pkwy., employs more than 600 in the area. The company hosted a groundbreaking in early February 2017 for the expansion.
