Marquette Breaks Ground on Fulton Market High-Rises
Marquette Companies held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for a pair of residential high-high-rises in the Fulton Market District, near Union Park. They’re the 11-story 1454 W. Randolph St. and 26-story 1400 W. Randolph, totaling more than 500 units. Marquette president Darren Sloniger was joined by Ald. Walter Burnett and Mayor Lori Lightfoot at Thursday’s ceremony.
“I’m really proud of what we created around the corner with the Mason,” Sloniger said. “And now, to be able to expand that vision and create a development that really stretches all the way to the Ashland Street Station is an opportunity that developers don’t get very often.”
He noted that when the COVID-19 pandemic set in this past March, “the prospects for these projects looked really bleak.” It was thanks to the company’s development partners, and to lenders who were willing to step in, that the project was able to move forward, said Sloniger.
