Maricopa County’s Buckeye Looks to Expand Industrial Acreage
Growing faster than any municipality in the United States (as of the end of 2021), Buckeye, Ariz. (near Phoenix) is moving to create 2,650 acres intended for industrial real estate usage and development.
The acreage, according to Buckeye city records, could be used for commercial warehousing, manufacturing and business park facilities.
The public discussion of the city’s major general plan amendment will be further discussed on Feb. 22 during a planning committee meeting, which will include the potential redesignation of 530 acres from business commerce and 2,118 acres from neighborhood to employment uses.
Should the redesignation be approved, the 2,650 acres will boost the area’s existing employment corridor that includes an already approved project from KORE Power’s 1 million-square-foot manufacturing facility and other speculative industrial buildings.
The Maricopa County documents show properties located within the 2,650 acres are currently owned by 34 different entities, with the blend of land in incorporated and unincorporated Maricopa County, city documents said.
