Margaritaville Transformation Set for San Diego’s Gaslamp District
A joint venture of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and Margaritaville Enterprises is moving forward with a Margaritaville hotel project in downtown San Diego.
The Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is expected to open in 2021, following a $20-million renovation of the current Solamar Hotel location (pictured). When complete, the partners expect to deliver 235 guest rooms and signature Margaritaville food and beverage programming.
Pebblebrook acquired the Solamar Hotel in 2018. Davidson Hotels & Resorts will operate the property as Solamar Hotel until the hotel is reflagged, and will continue to manage the property following its Margaritaville launch.
Margaritaville is the brand inspired by singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett, with 20 lodging locations and 24 additional projects in the pipeline or under construction, in addition to two gaming properties and 60 signature restaurants including Margaritaville Restaurant, JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill and LandShark Bar & Grill.
