Marcus & Millichap Spearheads SkillBridge Legislation for Veterans in CA

Marcus & Millichap helped spearhead California legislation to expedite the real estate license process for military service members participating in SkillBridge, a U.S. Department of Defense program that helps veterans transition to civilian careers at the conclusion of their military service.

“Marcus & Millichap is proud to assist members of the military in starting their careers in commercial real estate through our growing Military Bridge to Brokerage Program,” said Tony Solomon, SVP and district manager, Marcus & Millichap.

“To honor the individuals who served our nation, we felt a duty to provide an opportunity that helps integrate them back into the civilian workforce. Our unique program provides veterans, who make up 1% of the population, an opportunity to hit the ground running in a rewarding post-military career,” he continued.

“We partnered with the California Legislature and our legislative partners to draft Assembly Bill 883, which expedites real estate licenses for SkillBridge participants,” said Tyler Theobald, first VP and general counsel. “The bill, which passed both houses of the legislature unanimously, was signed into law by Gov. Newsom on Oct. 7. We hope it can serve as a blueprint for other states to clear the way for SkillBridge participants across industries.”

The company’s Military Bridge to Brokerage Program also honors the military service legacy of the late William A. Millichap, one of the firm’s founders, who retired from the United States Navy as a lieutenant prior to his career in commercial real estate.
