ManhattanLife Expands Houston Holdings, Buys 151K SF

ManhattanLife acquired its second Houston-area building, nabbing the 151,835-square-foot 13831 Northwest Freeway building in the northwest submarket. The life and health insurance company struck a deal with Boxer Properties for the asset, which sold for an undisclosed amount.

Jon Silberman with NAI Partners represented the buyer in the off-market transaction, while the seller was represented in-house by Jay Nowlin. NAI Partners’ Jim Tainter is handling leasing and property management assignments for the building. ManhattanLife headquarters is at 13831 Northwest Fwy., which is approximately four miles from its newest asset.

13831 Northwest Freeway delivered in the early 1980s and, according to a source with NAI Partners, ManhattanLife plans to occupy part of the space, and lease out the remainder. Boxer Properties, based in Houston, owned the asset since late 2010.
