Mirage announces last day, Hard Rock to take over

LV’s Mirage Closing Date Announced

For 34 years, the Mirage was one of the most opulent and recognizable hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. But as is often the case with Las Vegas hotels, they don’t last forever. The Mirage will close on Wednesday, July 17, as it prepares for renovations and rebranding as a Hard Rock International (HRI) property. HRI paid $1.075 billion in cash for the operating assets of The Mirage Hotel & Casino.

Hard Rock purchased operations for The Mirage from MGM Resorts in 2022 with plans to overhaul the entire resort and rebrand it as Hard Rock Las Vegas. Those plans include replacing the Mirage volcano with a new 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower.

3,300 hotel employees will be laid off, including 140 day-one employees.

The property is expected to reopen in May 2027.
