Lowe’s Locating in Booming Willis
Retail follows rooftops, and Lowe’s is responding. Willis, Texas, in Montgomery County, has only 7,000 residents, but Lowe’s reports that more than 2,700 new homes are planned in the greater Montgomery County area.
Lowe’s of Willis includes roughly 95,000 square feet of retail space plus 26,000 square feet of outdoor garden area. It is Lowe’s fifth new Texas store to open in 2026 and the third to open in the Houston area since 2025. Lowe’s has 154 Texas stores, the most in any state (Florida’s not far behind with over 130).
The Houston Business Journal reports the store will be in Fidelis’ The Market at Willis on the southeast corner of Interstate 45 and FM 1097. Anchored by H-E-B, the 510,493-square-foot shopping center is 93% leased.
