Lowell Justice Center Receives New Designation

Finegold Alexander Architects, along with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, DCAMM, Executive Office of the Trial Court, and the city of Lowell, celebrated the Designation Ceremony of the Cornelius F. Kiernan Judicial Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The center, designed by the Boston-based firm, is a 7-story, 265,000-square-foot universally accessible building containing 17 courtrooms across five court departments, including Superior, District, Housing, Juvenile, and Probate and Family Courts. It also houses various offices and facilities, including a Court Service Center, Law Library, the Registry of Deeds, Office of the District Attorney, and a Grand Jury Room.

The center is LEED Platinum certified and incorporates sustainable features, making it the first courthouse in Massachusetts and the first state courthouse in the country to receive this certification.
