Lowe, Mitsui Fudosan Break Ground on 492-Unit Apartment Project in D.C.
Lowe and joint venture partner Mitsui Fudosan America have broken ground on Gallery 64, a 492-unit, 12-story apartment building in Washington D.C.
Located at the site of the former Randall Junior High School, the 500,000-square-foot redevelopment of the nearly three-acre site will include the preservation and repurposing of existing historic buildings into the Rubell Museum. The Randall School buildings closed in 1982. The apartment units at Gallery 64 will consist of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans. Amenities are slated to include fire pits, grilling stations and outdoor kitchens, a dog walk and a resort-style pool.
Balfour Beatty Construction is serving as general contractor on the project. The redevelopment was designed by Beyer Blinder Belle Architects. Gallery 64 and the redevelopment of the campus are slated to be completed by 2022.
