Longview Moving Forward on Park and Trails

City officials in Longview, TX will receive a final design plan in early January for a $1.2 million outdoor park and event venue called The Green. Once the final designs have been approved by state and municipal officials, construction on the project could begin as early as April.

The Green will be an eco-friendly venue on the west side of the SH 31/Spur 63/South Street interchange. The Longview Economic Development Commission (LEDCO) is committing $400,000 to The Green’s development.

Also being sought are bids from contractors for the first phase of the Guthrie Trail extension. The three-phase plan will end up with a trail connecting the Cargill Long Trail to the northeast, and the Paul G. Boorman Trail to the southeast. LEDCO is committing approximately $1.9 million to the trail.
