Longview Home Sales Up, Construction Down
Longview home sales finished off 2017 on a positive note, capping a five-year run in which annual sales increased by more than 28%. The number of houses sold in December 2017 posted a 32% increase from December 2016, while for the full year, sales increased by 8.5%, according to data from the Longview Area Association of Realtors.
On the other side of the coin, however, construction slowed. The number of permits issued for single-family home builds across Longview’s three counties were on track to finish down nearly 13% from the prior year. Over a five-year average, this put permitting down approximately 28%.
The average sales price was $173,940, an increase from the $161,039 a year earlier.
