Logistics Industry Boasts Strong Performance
The logistics industry had its best year in 2014 since the Great Recession, according to a recent report. The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), in conjunction with Penske Logistics, said that the transpiration sector grew by 3.6 percent year over year due to higher shipment volumes.
Improvement in the overall U.S. economy helped, with higher incomes, lower gas prices and a low inflation rate. This has helped air cargo, railroad shipping and intermodal transportation.
The main concern facing the industry, report said, is a shortage of truck drivers to move cargo.
