Logan Square’s Hollander Building Trades for MXU

NKF has advised Hollander Holdings LLC in the sale of its 106-year-old building site on Milwaukee Avenue in the North Side’s Logan Square neighborhood. Deal terms were not disclosed; the 26,700-square-foot masonry building was the longtime home of Hollander Storage & Moving Company.

The buyer, GW Properties, plans to restore the Hollander building and create a mixed-use site including boutique office and ground-floor retail. Redevelopment of the site, which includes 11,00 square feet of neighboring land, also entails adding an apartment building.

“Over the past couple of years, we have seen a flurry of new development along Milwaukee Avenue due to transit-oriented development,” said NKF’s Jim Cummings, who represented Hollander with colleague Brian Carroll. “Not only was the opportunity there for the buyer to preserve and restore a historic property in a booming community, but also to redevelop the use with an addition of a brand-new building.”
