Locally Based Favor Delivery Acquired by H-E-B

H-E-B, a grocery store chain with stores in Texas and Mexico, has acquired Favor Delivery, an Austin-headquartered food-delivery chain with locations in and around Texas’ major metros, suburbs, and Bryan-College Station, TX. Under the terms of the deal, Favor will continue operating independently as a separate brand, while H-E-B retails all employees and the 50,000 “runners,” who are contract delivery drivers.

The buy will help H-E-B boost its online presence, though H-E-B already offers both home delivery and curbside pick-up services. The Favor Delivery acquisition gives H-E-B access to improved technology, and the company’s on-demand delivery system. In addition, the grocery chain will leverage Favor’s data-driven approach to help provide more service to the customer.
