Local Developer Unveils Plans for 97-Acre, MXU Vicinia
A group of local developers, led by Ed Cross of San Antonio Commercial Advisors, announced plans for Vicinia, a 97-acre, mixed-use infill development on the west side of San Antonio. The project will represent the city’s first ground-up new urbanist project.
Situated near Military Drive and Potranco Road, Vicinia will offer townhomes, condominiums and mixed-use buildings, many with ground-floor retail spaces. Part of the master plan features a town square, which will offer recreation space, food truck spots and a future farmer’s market. A new transit center will be next to the town square. The project could break ground as early as 2020.
“For San Antonio to meet the needs of one million additional residents within 20 years, we need to take steps now to address and hopefully pre-empt challenges that will arise with increased roadway congestion and housing supply,” Cross said. “New urbanism design models address these challenges.”
