Live Oak IKEA Could Open Sooner Than Expected

The 289,000-square-foot IKEA at Live Oak Town Center in San Antonio could open sooner than expected. The under-construction store, which anticipated opening its doors in spring 2019, could be open as early as January or February 2019. According to a spokesperson for the retailers, an exact date hasn’t yet been nailed down.

The spokesperson told San Antonio Express News that it will begin hiring 250 positions for the store at Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 in fall 2018.

The Swedish furniture retailer announced that installation of the store’s blue panels is in progress. “Installation of blue panels at the future IKEA Live Oak marks a critical milestone for our construction plans, and brings us a step closer to our store opening next winter,” said IKEA’s Lars Petersson. “We cannot wait to bring customers in the San Antonio area the unique IKEA shopping experience, and will begin to transform the interior space over the next few months.”
