Lightfoot Submits Five Possible Sites for Chicago Casino
The Illinois Gaming Board has hired Union Gaming to perform an economic feasibility study around the development of Chicago’s first-ever casino, with five possible locations put forth by Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Under recently enacted state law, the consultant has 45 days to complete its revenue forecast and deliver its findings to the city and state.
“While a Chicago casino had been talked about for more than 30 years, today we are moving forward to ensure the new casino is viable for Chicago and all of its communities,” said Lightfoot.
The five possible sites submitted by the Lightfoot administration each have been previously considered for a prospective casino or other major development in the past. They include: Harborside International Golf Center (pictured); the former Michael Reese hospital (31st and Cottage Grove); Pershing & State; Roosevelt & Kostner; and the former U.S. Steel parcel (80th and Lake Shore Drive).
