Life Sciences Manufacturer Building $100M Plant in The Woodlands
Life Sciences company Bionova Scientific started work on its new facility at 2635 Technology Forest Blvd, in The Woodlands. Bionova will focus on manufacturing plasmid DNA.
The 70,000-square-foot facility at 2625 Research Forest Drive will include offices, laboratories, clean rooms and shell spaces for future build-outs and is expected to cost $100 million to build. The Houston Business Journal reported that $56.1 million will be allotted for construction and another $45.8 million for fixtures. A tax abatement program for the project was approved by Montgomery County Commissioners in May 2024. From 2026 to 2029, 100% of Bionova’s county property taxes will be abated. After that, those taxes will be abated by 80% in 2030, 60% in 2031 and 40% in 2032.
The new plant will have a headcount of 200 workers in the Houston area.
