Life Sciences Building Breaks Ground in Manhattanville Factory District
Janus Property Company has broken ground on the Taystee Lab Building, an 11-story, 350,000-square-foot, Class-A property that will serve as a home for companies and organizations in the life sciences, technology, academia, non-profit and arts sectors in West Harlem’s Manhattanville Factory District.
The building on the site of the old Taystee Cake factory will be the anchor of the district, which stretches from West 125th Street to West 128th Street, and includes both new construction and the redevelopment of former industrial buildings.
“This new building addresses both the growing life science presence in West Harlem and the scarcity of available space to accommodate that growth throughout New York City,” said Janus principal Scott Metzner.
The Taystee Lab Building’s flexible floor plates will run from 36,000 square feet at the base to 15,000 square feet in the penthouse. All floors will have expansive, 14-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling glass.
