Costco to go up in Liberty Mill

Liberty Hill Lands a Costco

Costco may be setting up one of its signature warehouses in Liberty Hill. For most towns, that is considered a good thing. The company traditionally hires over 300 people for each store, that averages out at about 150,000 square feet. Liberty Hill, about 30 minutes north of Austin, has tripled in size since 2020 and now has over 10,000 residents.

The town recently approved a permit for a Costco Wholesale warehouse and fuel center at the 106-acre mixed-use development site at 433 N US 183. The site is also the location of a new Target store, which is expected to begin construction in January 2025 and tentatively open in May 2026.

The Liberty Hill location would be the seventh Costco warehouse in the Austin area. The membership-based big box retailer operates more than 600 stores in the U.S. alone and netted more than $60 billion in fiscal year 2024.
