Lexington Homes Sets Sights on Former DePaul College Prep Campus
Locally based Lexington Homes wants to turn the former DePaul College Prep campus in Irving Park into a sprawling residential project along the North Branch of the Chicago River. Crain’s Chicago Business reported that Lexington plans to develop 88 townhomes and a 269-unit apartment building, according to a zoning application submitted to City Council.
Among the area’s most active homebuilders in recent years, Lexington would demolish the existing school buildings and develop the three-story townhomes on the northern portion of the site and a six-story, horseshoe-shaped apartment building along Addison Street with a courtyard facing the river, Crain’s reported.
Congregation of the Resurrection has owned the land for 60 years and leased it to DePaul College Prep, which moved last year to a 17-acre Roscoe Village property. The religious order hired Marcus & Millichap in late 2019 to put the campus up for sale, marketing it as a potential redevelopment.
