Lewiston, ME MXU Development Greenlit

The Lewiston, ME city council gave its stamp of approval to a project that will bring housing and retail to vacant lots on Lisbon Street. Developer Nathan Szanton, owner of the Szanton Co., presented the plan, which includes a 71-unit, five-story apartment building, and space for retail and/or a restaurant at a cost of approximately $15 million.

The property, located between 145 Lisbon and 179 Lisbon, has been vacant since 2006, when a fire destroyed the buildings.

Lewiston’s city council voted to let Szanton acquire the city’s lots for $152,140. The developer indicated he reached a similar deal for the remaining two lots from owner Tom Platz.
