Lennar Urban’s $3B Candlestick Point Approved
Lennar Urban received good news about its massive mixed-use Candlestick Point development. Two city commissions approved amended development plans that allows the San Francisco-based developer to proceed with its first phase.
Expected to cost upwards of $3 billion, the initial phase includes a 500,000-square-foot shopping center, which is slated to break ground by 2017 in partnership with Santa Monica-based Macerich Co.
The amended Candlestick Point plans include a 1,200-seat arts venue, and 4,400-seat performance center. The first phase also includes 2,214 housing units, and more than one million square feet of commercial space and public areas. Infrastructure work is currently underway, now that Candlestick Park has been demolished.
