Lendlease Moves to Next Phase of Southbank MPC in Chicago’s Printers Row
Lendlease on Tuesday announced the next phase of its Southbank master-planned community , in Chicago’s Printers Row neighborhood. Known as The Reed, the new building, which will offer 216 luxury condominiums on its upper floors along with 224 rental apartments, marks the second residential tower at the seven-acre Southbank site along the South Branch of the Chicago River.
“We are excited to begin the next chapter of Southbank, a development that underscores Lendlease’s commitment to urban regeneration and that already has transformed a prime stretch of the Chicago River into an amenity for residents and neighbors in the surrounding community,” said Ted Weldon, executive general manager of development for Lendlease’s Chicago office.
He added that The Reed introduces a for-sale component to Southbank’s residential offerings. The project’s first development, the all-rental Cooper at Southbank, began move-ins in September 2018. Southbank also includes a two-acre park of the same name.
