Lendlease, McHugh Applaud Grant to Hire More Women in Construction

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker recently announced a $1.35 million federal grant to support tradeswomen-led efforts to train and encourage more women into infrastructure and construction careers.

“We at Lendlease applaud this commendable and necessary initiative, to elevate diversity and inclusivity among the traditionally male-dominated construction workforce,” said Kinjal Patel, SVP of Construction with Lendlease.

“Improving pathways for women to join the construction sector is not only a matter of equality, but also a means of unlocking untapped potential – especially at a time of looming labor shortages.”

“McHugh Construction is a member of HIRE 360, a nonprofit organization that connects minorities and women with careers in the trades, so we are thrilled that this grant will bring even more resources to help women enter construction careers,” said Michael Meagher, President of McHugh Construction.

“In addition to growing the female participation on construction projects, McHugh also teams with minority- and women-owned construction businesses to support their development.
